Research Fellows Program
Academic
relevance demands engagement with private sector industry leaders whose
work represents the highest ideals of creativity and innovation.
For 2009, the Institute has selected five individuals from the American healthcare industry to recognize for their:
1. Industry Prominence
2. Body of Work
Individually, the Research Fellows were asked to identify project
delivery concerns of vital importance. The Institute suggested that
they avoid philosophical or conceptual issues and concentrate on items
that are currently pressing and of particularly high value.
The Department of Defense
The DoD places a high priority on efficiently building new
healthcare facilities and has funded three RBI research projects.
Competitive Prominence in the AEC Industry
What will be required for the next generation of firms in the AEC
industry to acquire a position of market prominence? We've been
studying this issue for 3 years and our results were published by John
Wiley & Sons, London. This has lead to a national series of
seminars marketed specifically to architects, engineers, and general
contractors.
Alternative Project Delivery Strategies for Healthcare Facilities
The project delivery processes used to build today's healthcare facilities take too long, cost too much, and often fail to respond to the owner's ever-changing needs.
The RBI identified 65 industry leading firms, representing all functional elements of the process, and asked them to participate in a 2-year program to search for process improvements. Collectively our research partners have donated $55,000 to support the effort.
Academic Medical Center Growth Strategies
GE Healthcare funded this telephone survey of 40 American Academic Medical Centers.
